I'm going on a family holiday to Abersoch in a couple of weeks for a week. We have a beach house and we've been looking to see if there is anywhere that we can do the above from but to no avail as yet.
So I thought I'd throw it out to the .org. If anyone's got one I can rent off them, (I'm in Bolton and can tow it down if it has a trailer) feel free to send me a pm. Cheers Ste

If im honest its gonna cost quite a bit to rent a jetski for a week, youre typically looking at £70ish per hour in the water off a jetski rental place.
The problem with hiring someone elses jetski is the maintenance required after each use, especially after a trip in the sea. It requires flushing and lubing and all sorts. Ever been jetskiing before? |

Been before, used my mates as well but that was a long time ago. Maintenence after use isn't really an issue for me.
I know it ain't gonna be cheap, and for me I'd be happy just to hire one for an hour or 2. Was just wondering if anyone on here had one they weren't using at the mo, they could get some dosh, I could have some fun. Following the same rules as a mates bike, you break, you buy. off topic, but where abouts are you? I'm up in Bromley Cross. Ste

We have a jetski you see, and most people dont seem to know much about them, and presume its a play then put away sort of thing, without the understanding of any maintenance; hence my input of 2 pence!
They are great fun, ive only been on 2 or 3 times, but it belongs to my brother and father really and they use it pretty much every week end, Bridlington is meant to be a nice day out. Im in farnworth, close to the hospital, and still off topic, but do you ever pop up rivington barn? Im yet to go up on a sunday! |

No you're fine, I appreciate they aren't play then put away, although I couldn't tell you what was needed as like I said it's been a fair while. My Bro in law was talking about getting one, although I know how that will turn out as he doesn't know which bit is the sharp end on a screw driver.
You should do one of the Tuesday eve. meets if you can. They are either at the barn or at the pub around the corner. (check the Pennine Massive section) I don't go there Sundays, tbh I tend to go out Saturdays mostly (when I can get out) generally tends to be less folk and plod about.

Buy a second hand one with trailer use it for the week and sell on, will be much cheaper than renting by the hour.

play and put away,
I was out yesterday on my mates. the last time it seen water(not rain, snow, sleet, or Ice) was 2 years ago. the only thing we do to it when we take it out the water is open the drain bungs and give it a short blast to clear it out. we do only use it in fresh water though. for the last 5-6 years it's not even seen a new set of plugs or and air filter and resided outside without a cover. as i said it aint mine but my mate don't give a **** about it, unless it needs a clean (some ppl, i realy don't get) it just goes. another one i have access to never seen a service in over 5 years and we ran that for 3 years without doing anything untill my uncle thought it would be good to see inside the hull from the botom and filled the engine with water. strip and rebuild later (the engine was fine, new gasket set only) it fired into life. could be we are just lucky but these ones seem to take a good kicking without much maintanence. if they were mine it would be different, but hey. |

yeah a good blast is usually in order, but i think the effects of salt water require much more care, for obvious reasons. They also recommend servicing every 25 hours i think, which isnt much time, but makes sense; after all, a break down at sea could cost you dearly.
