Default High level exhaust and throw over panniers?

Right, I think I have answered this myself, but I am putting my Oxford panniers on for a little trip next week. I have a high level exhaust. Do you think that the silencer will get too hot & melt the panniers, or should I play safe & fit my std system?

Don't know, but I have the same dilema when I go to the AR

I think I'll be sitting on them on the riders seat, but I need to test them first

It is the same problem as most dual sport bikes. You'll want the throwovers off the muffler.

Unless you use a nice piece of asbestos exhaust lagging on the back of the pannier

Only available from reputable Chinese suppliers

Banned from use in EU in 2002

Just fitted my (brand new) Oxford panniers and it looks like I've got plenty of clearance or enough to get some cooling air between end can & pannier.

But this is unloaded.

I may pack a spare pair of pants under the rear seat in case of emergency

Tailpack is the only way I'm afraid if not. Carries the same amount as panniers anyway.

Thanks Dizzy, dont fancy frazzled Undies, so looks like I'm off to the shed in the morning to put my low level system back on. That means putting rear footpegs on as well. Might as well go the whole hog & put rear seat & grabrail as well save the cowl getting scratched. Ah well, never mind, will lube the chain & check other things while I'm in there.
