Default What a day

Yesterday, I spent all day riding my SV, having a lot of fun with some good mates and I got a new job!

Yeah, had a laugh riding around Bristol with Nemesis in rain so heavy that at times I could not even see the road. Rain can bounce you know! Despite being soggy and cold, it was still amazing to ride that much and it cured my fear of wet riding to a degree. Still don't like metal drain covers though!

Had an awesome interview yesterday before riding off to meet Nemesis, it is not often that a person can claim to have enjoyed an interview and to be honest it was more of a chat than an interview because I had my notes and had done my research on the company involved.

This morning I had an e-mail from a local push bike shop saying that they were considering giving me an interview, well about time. I have applied to them three times and finally asked them if they objected to me due to my being a woman? That kind of got their attention.

Also applied for a whole load of other jobs, for which I am still waiting to hear back from though. There is one company though that really impressed me with their ethical policy and company ethos, given the choice, these are the people I would like to work for and they interviewed me yesterday in Portishead and gave me the job today.

Not sure what to do now, from all descriptions it is a dream job with excellent training opportunities. They love the fact that I ride a bike and the manager who interviewed me yesterday, was admiring my SV from the window of the interview room during the interview.

I am being sent the information about the job, starting date depends on my CRB check and to be honest, the worst thing I have ever done is get caught cycling through a park! It sounds amazing, it sounds like a difficult job and it sounds amazingly rewarding.

I am to be working with an Autistic adult and will be providing care on a daily basis. With my back ground in Education and my specialisations in outdoor ed for disabled people, I feel like I have found the gold at the end of the rainbow.

I am totally blown away.

A big thank you to Von Teese, who has for ages been telling me that I should work in the care service and not waste my skills in shops.

Another big thank you to The Only Nemesis who spent yesterday riding with me around Bristol in horrible weather and was prepared to go for a ride despite the rain bouncing off the road. He also filled up my fuel tank for me which was a really kind thing to do.

I have no choice now, I have to tax the SV at the end of the month and I will have to buy a new back tyre when I get my first pay check. I have to pass my driving test very soon because I do not want to be commuting on the bike in winter snow. I still don't believe that it is real. Carol is almost as thrilled as I am and without her, this last few weeks would have been a nightmare, but we are both really excited now. This is after all, a dream job for some folks and I am kind of nervous incase they think about it again and change their mind. I have been unemployed or three months and it has been horrible and humiliating at times. I can now see an end to this phase of my life.

Right off to squeeze some spots to celebrate... OK, well update Facebook anyway. Damn, I told you lot on here before I even told my Mum. What does that say about the Org?

Got your PM hon, Im so proud of you I could just cry!!! I KNEW you were cut out for something better and now someone who really needs your amazing personality and kind words and caring heart will benefit.

I would love to take the credit but you did it yourself, all I did was say what I saw in you and that was a carer.

Congratulations, I think a likkle celebration is definately in order since we both now have our dream jobs xxxxx

Thank you every one for kind words and good wishes.

Still excited and even dreamed about the new job last night. Can't wait to start and also can't wait to get paid. I have an SV bar conversion to finish, a Kawasaki GTR1000 to streetfighter and Honda CG125 to chop up.
