Default Hi everyone

I can't wait, I've been sat at the side of the track so far this year but this weekend I'm picking up a 'new' race bike

Its a carby minitwin (rather different to last years GSXR750), hopefully looks like a decent spec but we'll soon see on my first track day on the 26th July at Cadwell.

Then I hope to come racing and favourite at the moment would be a lovely sunny weekend in August with NG at Anglesey.

Anyway, 'cos I'm soon to be a SV owner I thought I'd sign up here and see what's going on - I'll try to make any questions and comments not too daft!

Welcome to the site and SV racing!!
I've just started racing this year in Minitwins with the NEMCRC.
The racing is great but the crack is fantastic!!

I'm sure that whatever you want to know both SV and racing wise, someone on the site will be able to point you in the right direction!!

Regards

TC

PS-we'll be racing at Croft 24th/25th this month-enjoy Cadwell

Welcome to Minitwins
I started racing a Minitwin this season, i've done two rounds with NG, Brands and Cadwell, both were superb meetings with almost full grids of minitwins so we had our own races no other classes to get in the way (or in my case get in the way of) which i personally like.
I did a Wirral 100 round at Angelsey and i'm hoping to do the NG round at Angelsey so fingers crossed i might see you there, the lads in the class are a great bunch hard, close but fair racing on track and a good crack in the paddock.
Any questions just ask away and somebody on here will be able to help, enjoy your ride at Cadders what a great place to start on the SV

Thanks for the comments guys

Here's a pic of the bike before I picked it up

But as soon as I got it home I took it all apart - its a hangover from my childhood days

It looks to be in very good shape with some decent kit on it but at the risk of shooting myself in the foot and costing me a packet can anyone throw some light on the front forks set up for me.

I've never even seen an SV front end before but I'm starting to worry if this one is fully within the Minitwins regs as it has an adjuster on each fork top. The look like preload adjusters but are they standard SV? I kinda thought that SV's had no adjusters on them at all, but I really am clueless. If they are wrong, would it just be the tops (the forks look like SV forks to me) so could I put standard tops in?

You may be able to see them here...

I know the forks have had some work done to them and they feel pretty good (maybe a bit soft but thats easy to sort out, especially with those adjusters!!)

I don't need the laptimer - I just need to know that I'm slower than the bike in front - so thats for sale and the gear indicator too (never needed one so far)

I'm probably going to change the bodywork and paint it up a bit different (not too keen on the GSXR fibreglass that it currently wears as it makes the bike look too big)

Cheers

The fork top pre load adjusters are from a later injected model i would say, if so they are legal, in fact i'd like a pair for my curvy if anyone has any knocking about they want to part with.

Cool, I thought the bike was built within regs and I've just re-read them so I think this is actually whats been done.

Phew!

Now about this turbo......

Welcome Pop!

First thing to do is to take that bloody awful GPR steering damper off and send it to me for destruction

Save me buying one

I like the colour scheme, Very unusual!

D'ya know what - that GPR damper might just stay on for a while . I've heard good and bad things about them, never had one before so I'll see how I get on with it.

Colour scheme is a bit 'unusual' and I can't keep it like that really so it will probably end up a bit like last years GSXR
