I have had my sk3 650 for just over a month now and I love it. My question is though... Why do all of you have sv's? I have read on here that the suspension is not great, riding can be uncomfortable and there are so many changes that people make, so why do you all have them. Nothe most powerfull bike either as a cbr600rr is a lot more powerfull. I will admit I got mine cause it is cheap to run and it looked nice but I have fallen in love with it. So why do you all own yours when you could have a cbr600rr or something like that?

I got mine (a curvy) because it was highly recommended as a first bike, and we did go around the dealers looking at all other options but tbh the curvy was the most comfortable, and I sat on just about every 600. I sat on some pointys but I always felt slightly more stretched, and at 5'4 every inch counts!!
I was also on a budget and there were always more sv's around in that price range than cbrs, zx6's... At the end of the day mine was in the right place, at the right time and at the right price and was quite unusual (not many full faired red 'uns around) and very pretty! As soon as I saw it I knew that was my bike. Having said that, after a fantastic year and 10k miles with it, I have just progressed to my TT600 which is great for other reasons, suspension, braking, acceleration ![]() Will always love the SV and hoping it turns up here sometime soon! |

Why do most people have SV's?
I think the name of the website gives it away slightly ![]() |

I got mine because I was advised to get an SV as my first bike.
I have yet to ride it though but I am already in love with her ![]() |

The reason I have an SV was because a love affair. I bought my SV from my now ex partner, when we first started our relationship. Me and Suzy have a very sentimental past, and I couldn't bear for her to go somewhere else. With all her warts and rust from a very hard life in every Winter I just had to have her. It took another three years for me to bring her back to how she should have been. She'll never be sold, apart from having the same amount of money that I bought her for, spent on her, she just has too many happy memories attached, and I am only the second owner.
Would you believe if he hadn't have been thinking of sending Suzy on, I was looking at buying a cruiser?????????? I only bought Dave the SV because of a trip to France, he was supposed to have been sold many moons ago, when Suzy had been rebuilt, but he earned his stripes and I couln't part with him either. I love Vtwins, I love the pipes I have on both, I hate screaming IL4s, they are swear words. However I now have a big VTwin to go with the other two, and don't love the cans on that, and am negotiating a nice set of Leo VInce titanium pipes.......you lot better get shares in an earplug manufacturer ![]()

They are very good first bikes and are able to take a knock or two.
Cheap to run and insure Lighter than its bandit sister A vtwin makes one of the best sounds on a bike The quality of the stock suspension allows for part bin raiding of GSXR's and ZX...R's Not to brutal a riding position.

I had mine as a way of getting back on sporty style bikes after a gap of a couple of years with no bike (after a mate got killed when we used to ride like a***holes)then a ccm supermoto for a year that fell to bits or self ignited everytime I rode it. My wife even got sick of me fixing and spending cash on it and said get a proper bike again if you are going to have one.(She hates them after my mate died). I tried a curvy and loved how you could thrash it and not get bit on the a**e by it.

I bought an SV because I needed a bike I could restrict for two years and it still to be able to move. I am just in the process of selling it. I thought I would keep on riding it when I bought the R6...how wrong I was. Only thing I miss about the SV is the engine.
I can see myself getting another Vtwin in the future but it won't be an SV! |
