Can anyone tell me is it difficult to remove the oil sump Does it involve removing the exhaust

nope easy as and you do not need to remove the exhaust what bike and year do you have ?

If you're referring to removing the drain plug to do an oil change then no, the exhaust doesn't need removal.
If you actually wish to remove the oil sump then there's a problem - there isn't one. The SV crankcases are vertically split and there is no separate sump.
