Default Suspension help

Hi i know this has been covered a lot but was just looking for some advice after my 3rd visit to the cat & fiddle/ snake pass in the last month. I noticed that the back end was very light under firm ish braking and could fell the rear end moving around, if i wasnt used to riding a mx bike it would have been very unnerving. Is this due to the forks being to soft and if so what do you guys recommend, i weigh 70kg plus gear. Thanks Brad o and the bike is a sv650 k7 33bhp.

I'd agree with berlin except I'd say that 0.9 linear springs may be a bit too much for the road and maybe 0.8 or even 0.85 might be a better choice.

I had 0.9 springs in my SV and found them very/too stiff and I'm 13.5st without gear.

I'd go .8 at that weight for street, maybe .825 but I think .85 would be adding harshness in favour of support which you won't utilise.

The rear moving around can be caused by front or rear setup, and braking hard enough it will do that whatever your setup is. If you're braking that hard regularly and are not experienced enough to not be unnerved by it then you shouldn't be riding that hard.
What is rear preload set to? Do you have some rider sag or is it topping out?

To be total honest i have not even looked at any of the settings, is there any where that i can find the info for static, rider sag and i dont think that i am braking massively hard because although it is a total different bike my dad on his ktm RC8 brakes harder and later than me and has not suspension problems. Also i know that i have only been riding on the road for about 8 months and am still very inexperienced i have been riding a bike just as powerful for many years in more challenging conditions.

Are you using enough back brake? Also have you checked the back shock isn't knackered?

Hi the bike is on an 09 plate and has done 5500 miles so i dont think that the shock would be knackered and as for using the rear brake i think that i might actually be using to much. Cheers for all of the help everyone.
