Got a road trip tomorrow. I have two interviews, so I am travelling from the Durham area, to Leeds, then from there to Northampton, then back home.
I have checked tyres, chain, lights, etc. I have a tank bag (with map holder/viewer), I also have a tail bag for my shoes, so I don't need to use a back pack. I have some spare gloves, a spare neck warmer and some spare socks. I will be wearing my suit etc under my textiles. Have I missed anythng???? |

Although for a shorter period, my suit usually stays ok under my textiles as I travel to work like this every day.
I have my Debit Card for petrol, but will stop off at a cashpoint as soon as I can so that I am prepered if I go to a petrol station that doesn't accept cards. Thanks for the 'good luck'. I have some food (forgot to mention that), but didn't think of a flask, good call. Last edited by Scott S; 16-09-10 at 07:35 PM. |

Hadn't thought if getting a room for the night, but i'd be nervous about leaving my bike overnight in a carpark.

Also,
I forgot to ask......my speedo is still intermittent (new part ordered and a second hand sensor also paid for), so what are my chances of getting nabbed by an average speed camera? I stick to the speed limits very well (seriously) on normal occasions, but I find it harder to judge speed on my bike than I do in the car (can't take car, the wife needs it). Do average speed camera's work for bikes? Last edited by Scott S; 16-09-10 at 08:09 PM. |

All the Mway ones I have seen face the front of you... no problem on bike.
If in doubt follow speed of cars around you.

If you don't have a Scottoiler, some chain lube wouldn't go a miss if you have a can lying around.
I did about 450 miles from Chester (UK) to Aalst (Belgium) on the way to the Nürburgring a couple of weeks back. Could have done more but had the hotel already booked! That was pretty much all motorway, uninspiring but not tiresome. With stops for interviews splitting the journey up you should be fine. Good luck with them! |
