Default Painting/powdercoating my engine + forks

as above where in the south can i get it done over the winter? im not confident enough to drop the engine myself and i dont have a proper work space to store stuff? there is some corroding on the side of the crank case from the previous owner, always wanted a black engined bike just wondering if anyone knows where is a good place in the south to go and how much i should expect to pay?
thanks all.

was talking to the guy down the local bike workshop and he said that the engine and gear box need to be stripped out and the engine taken down to its smallest components to be painted/power coated? is this so? why cant i strip it down to a dry engine and get it done that way? why do all the covers and internals need to come out?

You can paint the engine black no problem, I did.

But to powedercoat stuff it has to get heated up to 'cook' the paint. So any rubber seals or greased bearings will melt/perish and ruin the finish.

how much longer does powder coating last than painting? what are the benefits?

I'd say powder coating is more durable a finish, although if it does get chipped it can't just be touched up, and if water gets underneath the coating it looks messy.

Painting is generally cheaper and requires less prep work/stripping down.

If it's just a plain colour then you can make a reasonable job touching it up with paint.

Yeah sorry, with regards to touch ups I meant with powder coating you can't just re-powder and cook a bit of it I appreciate you can use paint to hide the chip.
