Default Baffle mod, possible problems?

Will this cause any problems for my bike?

The exaust i fitted recently is just too loud for my liking.

The baffle fitted Had a hole straight thru the middle.

I noticed some baffles have a plate before the straight thru section so i thought i'd try to make one.

This is just a temporary one to see if it made it quiter, which it did.

I'm going to make another one with some good ali.

So will this cause problems for my bike?

It is no bigger than the plate behind the jubilee clip.

Thanks in advance.

Hmm

It does't appear to effect the air flow it just has to travel aroud the plate, thus quietening it, instead of straight out.

OK.

I've cut it down so it's slightly bigger than the hole and moved it about 20cm further away.

Anyone else any input.

Won't they catch fire when the exhaust gets hot?

Weld some gauze across it or do as you have done (but I wouldn't clamp it in place like that).
Think I actually have a spare one of those pieces you've tried to recreate, sod's law will strike me down but I guess I could post it down if you're happy just securing it with a couple of tack welds.

Just come back from a blast and the difference in noise is like night to day.

It has a much more rumbly sound as opposed to the LOUD ear splitting bark it had before.

Runs fine all the way to the limiter.

And is much more acceptable around town.

Now to make a stronger one out of ali.

Hey Dave why would it not be good to secure it with a jubilee clip?

Oh and Dave i appreciate your input.

I would worry about the clip snapping/rattling off. Had a few snap/slip on the outside of the SV's pipework wouldn't be particularly happy that happening internally - but the forces will be different there, so it may well be fine.

OK.

I've left the cat in so that may stop anything making it's way back into the cylinders.

I'll have a think about attaching it more securely.

Thanks Dave.

Second thoughts probably best to make one from steel and tack weld it.
