Default Racing - life insurance implications?

Hi orgers,

Well, the Mrs and I have finally bought a house! Been paying other peoples mortgages for the last 5 years and finally had enough when the rent was pushed up another £50/month for no reason and the bathroom ceiling still hasn't been repainted 18 months after we were promised it would be... Who paints bathrooms in matt emulsion anyway??

Enough of that, I digress and could rant for hours. As part of the mortgage we've had to have life insurance. Yes, I know this is standard but my question is with regard to the declaration of racing / trackdays.

Whilst they didn't include my commute as a "dangerous hobby / activity etc." I'm pretty sure that if I was to start racing (will be in a position to in a couple of years) there would potentially be all sorts of complications / increased premiums / uncoverable aspects so much questions are:

1. Are life insurance companies iffy about racing etc?
2. If they are, what's the solution? Just phone around and talk to new companies?
3. If the answer to (2) is yes, can you then chop and change your life insurance company, like car insurance?

One final one: does the undertaking of trackdays warrant declaration too?

Cheers,

Al.

q1 yes
q2 yes
q3 yes

final q no

racing is a weekly/ monthly high risk endevour, a trackday or two isnt concidered the same

they may with your current on just pump it up a few quid cos they can, and remember say your "thinking " about racing not actually doing it yet, then if you already have the policy READ the whole thing therefore armed with all nessesary facts eg " well i doent have that exclusion on your policy" and " so where are you getting that fact from it not on the paperwork you sent me " etc etc

It's a bit of a pain. When I got mine for the first time they wanted my entire race history - everything I'd ever entered, classes, bikes I'd raced in the past, finishing positions even grid sizes etc. Comparing mine to my wifes, mine was about 3 or 4x the price.
I recently moved to another one (about a month ago) and declared trackdays but it didn't affect the price.
