Yesterday I was riding through town in heavy rain and even heavier traffic.
After around 20 mins of struggling between cars and buses smoke/steam started comming out from underneath my poor sv whenever I stopped. And it was proper steaming but it didn't smell of burn or anything. I know that my riding technique is still very frantic and I was absuing my clutch too much on that day but is this something that happens to ****ty riders or should i be concerned that my bike is trying to take up smoking? There was no smoke when I rode during dry weather. |

I'm no expert but I do think it would be steam from all the rain water coming into contact with hot bits of the engine and exhaust. If it didn't smell of burning then it probably wasn't burning. AFAIK it has very little to do with quality of riding. More like quality of humidity
Either that or get get it some nicorette patches |

It's just steam from the rain.
Nothing to worry about unless it does it in the dry, or has accompanying flames. ![]() |

I have an 06 pointy and does the exact same thing. My advice spray all the engine and anything water can get to with ACF50 because when it steams it smells really nice

I kinda like the effect when I stop at the traffic light. People staring at me like I'm on fire or something ... lol

I can't belive this question actually comes up?
What are they teaching in School these days? You take a red hot item out in the rain it's going to steam! The front wheel is bound to throw water on the hot exhaust which is bound to creat steam. Its Primary school stuff! You see it when the bike stops and it rises towards you! SPOOKY! Hot air rises! You've been following a car for miles that steams every time it goes through a puddle! How is your bike different? Jeesh! ![]() |
