Just found out we have a shower in our building. So no excuse not to go for a run at lunch now.
Not done ANY exercise in a few years now. Used to play football for an hour, but thats short bursts and due to injuries I had to stop. So, brought in my trainers etc today, went for a short run. 1900 odd steps on my ipod, 95 bloody calories, caining thighs, lungs that hurt, and a shower that dribbles... Hardly seems worth it. God i hope it gets easier than this. ![]() |

It'll get better, just persevere, you have youth on your side. You will see some big gains at first, so that helps with the old motivation.
My first spin class after 8 years of sloth had me struggling to hold my tea down and wobbly knees walking down the stairs from class, but within two or three weeks I was already doing way more than that first session. It''ll get better, but in the mean time MTFU ![]() |

Had wobbly knees big time. Thighs are hurting a bit, but honestly, i've not felt this awake in the afternoon for ages! Maybe the midday shower, or the run, but I feel like im on a caffine rush or something.
Youth, i'll be 30 next year, booooo. Mind you, need to work those cakes off from monday ![]() PS, I think I am of women now, I need to mtfu ![]() |

why run when you can walk
especially as youve done no phys for a good while, build up from 2-3 miles walking, then fast walking, then running when you can do the above with ease based on 45 min lunch |

nahh your just RELALY old then
![]() I've done walking at lunch, but not 2-3 miles in 45 minutes worth. I'd rather run, I think? Even when I had to stop, I didn't stop, I tried to carry on walking a fast pace. It'll get better im sure, just day 1 sucks. |

thing is when your starting to get fit again softly softly catchy monkey is the way ahead, going straight into high impact work can (not always) do more harm than good, sometimes a gradually buildup is far more benifical, i also have just turned old and have been busted up for quite a while, so the idea of going straight into high impact running is in my situation is mental, but i need to get fit again so will be doing the above as a starting point
hope that makes sence dave |

It does get easier really quickly, I started playing footie again in the gym with some mates, I was proper boloxed the first week, next week I was 10 times better, my knees and bones in general are knackered as well.
The job I do keeps me active but I still need cardio stuff as well. Still can't get my body to do the stuff my brain wants to ![]() |
