Default Pro's and Con's of a 520 conversion?

Looking at the new race bucket, it has a 520 conversion and comes with a whole box of completely knackered sprockets! They are not only worn out but the front and rear sprocket teeth are bent! ... and the previous owner was only 10.5 stone!

I'm 20 in my leathers and I'm thinking a 520 conversion might not be up to the job. I didn't have any wear at all on my std 525 gearing.

Worth it? Not worth it? What are your thoughts?

1000cc bike have 180BHP going through 520 chains Carl. I don't think you need to worry about SV power killing chains.

The pro is less power drain.......

520 will give you an extra 1 - 2 hp (less rolling resistance apparently) especially if you use a Heavy Duty standard chain, Dont use O ring or X ring as they will sap power as you arent on the road dealing with alsorts of weather and many miles so they are not required. Chains are cheaper too

BMC do a 14 Tooth front sprocket in their superlight range but its not listed on their website just ring them (I think it may be a GSXR item)

Yes and it does vary as to what 520 chain you use. Irie on here had done alot of research this year on chain weight, resistance and tensile strengths. Worth dropping him a PM.
