Home made motor with video. - SV650.org

I found a video of a Homopolar motor. The kids loved it, so we made one!

I haven't looked at how they work, but they just shouldn't! It's just a few magnets, a battery and some copper wire.

Then we made a smaller, faster version.

If anyone can explain how it works, please feel free.

All down to stuff like flemming's left hand rule of current flowing in a magnetic field etc. (I Think)

made one

It's cool lol. I made it out of solderwire so it's really lightweight but it went so fast it kept falling off, so made some "arms" to guide it round the battery
