Default My First Leather Suit Dainese T-Avro 2 pc

Hey folks,

I just bought my first set of leathers and thought i'd post here for some advice.

Its a 2 Piece Dainese T-Avro Suit size 50. First thoughts is that it looks well made and the zips all work nicely, especially when joining the pants to the jacket.

I went on a brief 20 minute run on my brothers ZX6R as he was over checking the new gear. I found i was sliding about the seat quite a bit. Is this just because the leather is new and not bed in yet? Also its a bit stiff/tight but in no way restricted as i still have full movement of neck, arms and legs.

I was wearing it about the house lastnight trying get to it broke in. Had it on for over 2 hours and it was really comfortable. I wasn't over heating etc and was doing a few lunges and squats easily to stretch it out and get used to it.

Is there a normal break in period for leathers or is it just a case of getting the bike time. Also i cant get my boots under the leathers with the zips fully closed so have to wear the boots over them. Is this a problem or should have I got a bigger size in the trousers to make boots fit under properly

What about caring for them after runs. Is it just a rub down with a sponge and mild detergent or should I be buying specific leather cleaner and protector.

Here are a few pics and thanks in advance!

Tart.

I've found I slip about more on some bikes than others - likely to do with the different seat cover materials used - so see what it's like on your own bike first.

I was sliding around on the SV and it wasn't getting any better so I got some Stomp Grips for the tank which has put a stop to the nuts/tank interface under braking. Triboseat do a grippy riders seat cover that might be worth a look if it continues to be a problem for you.

I also couldn't get my leathers inside my TCX Competizione boots, which are notoriously tight to start with. There was shin armour in the leather trousers which I removed and I wore very thick socks in the boots for a wee while when I was wearing my kevlar jeans to stretch the boots a bit more. The combination meant I could eventually wear the boots over the leathers. It was still tight but very quickly eased off. It doesn't take long - everything was comfy as pyjamas within 1,000 miles.

As far as cleaning products go, I can't really help. I'm obviously a bit of a manky scutter and just clean the worst of the bugs off with warm water every now and then.

Why would you want your boots under the leathers?

No way would mine ever fit under my leathers

I totally misread that. I thought the problem was the leathers wouldn't go inside the boots.

If the trousers go inside the boots then all is well. Do that.

Apologies, just never had leathers before!

Heard somewhere though that if you were to be caught out in the rain while riding and in leathers then the rain would run down the leg and into your boots, soaking your feet. Therefore I asked the question about not being able to properly fit the leathers over the boots

Plus all the pics of my leathers in the catalogues show the model wearing the leathers over the boots

Am fine with wearing the boots over the leathers though! Don't really plan to be doing an awful lot of riding in the rain despite living in Scotland

It is nice, especially when the lining is waterproof so it does soak out. I had to borrow a knife off Quiff once to cut the linings out of my boots so the water could drain away at AR something
