I had my bike serviced last week (oil, filter etc) and since then I have notice that my bikes clutch has slipped twice, first time I was in 2nd gear and as i came into power band the revs shot up and i decelerated. This has just happened again tonight but in first gear.
Now this sounds like a worn clutch to me, maybe clutch was worn and the new engine oil may have just tipped it over the edge in term of lack of friction BUT I am unable to replicate the fault no matter how hard i try, it just seem to happen random. Bike (see sig) has done 5500 miles and ive had it for 5 weeks and done 1800 mies. any ideas? If it is just a straight clutch swap, any idea on price including fitting? |

It's not likely to be a clutch after 5500 miles, has it just been over adjusted? Where is your clutch bite at the lever? Did you notice any difference at the lever when you first got back on the bike after the service? It sounds like you got the service done at a garage? Take it back and complain. It's a wet clutch and they may have used the wrong oil.

The "bite" is right at the top, if i put even the slightest pressure on the lever while riding it will slip. Wondering if tonight could of been wheel spin, ive only been riding 5 weeks. surely if the back tyre is spinning I would notice? That said if i was wheel spinning i wouldn't decelerate?? It sounds like it's probably your adjustment anyway. (Rest of sentence edited forgot it was a Bandit) It's not likely to be wheel spin on an 600 Bandit unless your riding on something very slippy, I'd forget that theory. Last edited by -Ralph-; 15-10-10 at 07:11 PM. |
