Yeah - he scored consistently and well, and didn't hurl himself at the scenery. I think he's an arrogant little tosser, but he did the best this year.

Definately. He's shown the speed and the brains necessary to be the rider that scores the most points and takes the crown.

There will always be comments like; 'if Rossi wasn't injured' etc, well he chucked himself at the scenery so was injured and thus missed races, Lorenzo wasn't and raced at or near the front. Similar things were said about Schwantz's championship in '93 when Rainey got injured and more recently when Doohan duffed himself and Criville won. And they rode proper GP bikes too .

Nicky Hayden was criticised as an unworthy champion which I found strange, he did the job, stayed on the bike and scored the points he needed to be on top. Of course in the past the championship was decided differently, maybe it should change again - only wins count?

Isn't there only one tuing needed to be 'worth it' - having the most points? Hes already guaranteed that so yes he is.

Look at his record, only off the podium twice this season and miles ahead.

Rossi won last week, so arguably he's over his leg now, and look how far ahead the two others were today.

You can only race against those who are there. Can't be expected to race against those that don't show up.

I think so. He's been fast and consistant. I think he's grown up a little to and thats why he hasnt been falling off as much, he's realised that in order to win, he has to finish races on and consitently get podiums, a lesson learnt from Rossi himself I think.

Definately a worth champion.

I think thats irrelevant, you either win the title or you dont.

In the current era, nobody is going to outdo Rossi in the popularity stakes anyway, so trying to go down that route is a waste of time.

i don't feel it is irrelevant in success terms. rossi didn't win the title and having a poor year by his standards but i bet you hes sold more merchandise than lorenzo. don't get me wrong fizz he really does know how to get the best out of what hes on and now he knows when to settle for what hes got. i'm affraid my personal dislike goes back to 250's etc.

Merciandise sold does not a world champion make (although it is very appealing to sponsors).

I'd have to say that I don't think he does know when to settle. A couple of the moves he's made since he came back seem to me to be on a par with Schumacher trying to put Barrichello into the wall in F1. Schu's out of favour, so something got said. Rossi's s golden so everyone keeps schtum.

and thats it in a nut shell. rossi aint the world champ, but hes still the hottest property on the market.
the other question is how much does lorenzos champion status owe to rossi. yamaha was in no fit state to win anything before rossi got on board. but i suppose jorge would've just gone to the winning team at the time.
