Can anyone recommend a clear tank pad which has no discolouration whatsoever? I've got one on the bike at the moment, but having white stripes, underneath the pad, they look distinctly off white so its spoiling the look.
Anything totally clear and protective at the same time? |

Oxford ( I think ) do sheets of clear plastic protection film Rob. Infinity stock it . Comes with templates to cut your own tank protectors etc. I`ve had it on the sides of the tank, where my knees were dulling the paint , for about 6 months . doesnt effect the paint colour viewed through it , infact you can hardly see it.
Have you posted any pics of the new bike yet ? |

I've got the pad from a Ventureshield kit on my GSXR, has been on there since the bike was new and hasnt gone yellow yet.

Any decent car accessory shop will sell clear protective adhesive film . Make and cut a template out of cardboard the shape you want. Cut the film using the template, reversing[turn over] for the other side. Clean all polish off the surfaces you are going to stick it on and give it a light spray with soapy water. Apply the film using a rubber spreader, damp cloth and a hair dryer------Bobs your auntie ,job done
I bought a roll for a fiver, did the above abought 4 year ago and it is still perfect today,no yellowing or lifting, you can't even tell it is on there. P.S. You will have loads of film so if you are not happy with the first attempt it is no problem Last edited by Dicky Ticker; 02-11-10 at 09:02 AM. |

Thanks, its a spine protector I'm after so really a laser cut resin type protector would be the preferred option.

Pretty much all of the adhesives "yellow" when exposed to UV light. Maybe try 3M paint protection film that has already been mentioned. The 3M stuff is unlikely to yellow (as much) over time. R&G also do some but its pricey!
