so the wife is already starting to get into the "Must get shopping for christmas mode, xyz has already done hers" etc.
So she took my plastic out for a work harden last night. Just been looking in the goodies cupboard. Hmmmm would she notice if I raided the M&S mince pies as I pick up one of 4 boxes. WTF. sell by 28/11/10, Best before 30/11/10. They are in christmas packaging, wishing you a merry christmas from Marks and Spencer with holly and berries etc. Damm things will be mouldy before christmas. Why put on the shelves stuff intended for christmas if it is not going to to be fit for consuming at christmas? Why did she not check the dates on the packaging?? OK, it must be me!!! They are not intended to be for christmas, they are there to make the customer think about christmas and to put them into spending mode.

it's a marketing ploy, get you to buy them now and then AGAIN closer to xmas when you realise that the mince pies you kept for xmas are out of date and taste like....
TBH, i think there should be something along the lines of "not fit for purpose" with stores selling stuff like this with very limited shelf lives as stuff designed to be used closer to xmas now. You'd clearly not be able to keep them that long unless you froze them. i'm thinking of having a go at making some myself this year, cant be too hard... *Goes off to PM gruntygiggles for a pie recipie |

Blinking coincidence. So I must not be the only one then to think it ludicrous to christmas package goods that will not be fit for consumption at christmas.

That's like those M&S lemon tarts and on the packaging it says 'Serves 6' - Six what? People from Lilliput? No, it serves me - in 3 large helpings.
