Unhappy spark visible in carburettor

hi all, I have a 2000 sv 650 s with a wrp lite serries end can. when i was fitting a dyno jet kit to the carburettor, on completion i noticed a spark in the carburettor. so i checked the work i had done all seemed ok i then checked the valve clearances. theese where out of spec so i took out the cams reshimmed them, and got the correct clearances between the cam and valves . spent an age retimming the engine (is it possible for all marks to line up exactly or do i need a new chain i tried all directions back foward 1 tooth. had to settle with the best i could get) built it up fired it and im back to square one however the engine now takes the throttle more smoothly. but i still get this sparking on the front cylinder where do i go now. feeling a bit lost . could it be a bent valve cracked or loose valve guide. would really appreciate some feed back.

Jim Jim,
Could you possibly post some pictures or video of what you mean? Looking into the carb when the bike's running you should never be able to see a spark, as that would probably lead to combustion of fuel in the inlet/carb rather than the combustion chamber.

You can get spitting back, usually when running lean, that looks like a yellow flame popping up.

You need to check that valve timing again, generally putting them back the same way they came out is a good idea. Make sure you're absolutely bang on the F mark when setting and you move all the slack in the chain to the tensioner side when looking at marks.
