After 4 months of waiting and only a measly 3x '89 NC30's coming up for sale in NZ (1st sold the day before I was going to buy it, 2nd was too expensive and 3rd time was lucky!) I am now the proud owner of a not-too-shabby 1989 Honda VFR400R. Booya! The front fairing is non-OE, but the quality and paintjob of the replacement is pretty good. Apart from that, I think it is pretty much original and with 25,000km on the clock, it is just run in!
Plan is to tidy it up, (it still has the original rubber brake hoses!) tune it up a little and then go post-classic racing in pre-89 class. I'm going to keep the same paintjob on the race fairings as I think it looks great! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

A lot more than VFR's over in the UK! I paid $4k (NZD). Dealer was selling a minter for $6k and the fairly tatty trackbike went for $2.5-3k. If you convert the amount to pounds, (and at the moment the dollar is very strong) then it is quite expensive compared to the UK.

That looks sweet. I always prefered that colour scheme - makes it look almost like an RC30. My daughter's was a UK spec one in those colours - I wrote it off for her

Thats a belter! It seems a shame to put that on the track! It'll only end in tears!
