Crazy, crazy world we live in

Isn't this the type of thing that is the root to our society being on a downward spiral.
Things like this sadden me tbh, it just promotes lack of interest in the classroom cos it stops teachers being enthusiastic which in turn doesn't transmit to the pupils.

The worst thing is that these health and safety fascists have cost this bloke his job and probably his career.And he has no comeback and no redress.
Many professionals are at risk of this sort of denouncement but teachers are most vulnerable because no one else can employ them afterwards.You just never know and cant be too careful can you?

Says it all when the parents and kids supported what he did. Except the head went and blew him up!

Wonder if the kids had split their heads open....would the parents have still supported the teacher or would they be getting a pay off courtesy of the schools insurance?

I guess that's what the head has to weigh up...

Our teacher provided us with stuff to roll down the hill on in summer, and allowed us to take our own sledges to school for lunchtime!

This quote actually shows how little the prosecutor knows about H&S legislation: The wearing of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) isn't compulsory unless the risk assessment shows it is necessary as part of mitigating an unacceptable risk.

H&S bureaucrats make my blood boil. The idea is to make doing things safer, not to stop things being done. Even the HSE will agree with that.

Did a HSE recognised risk assesors course when I left the RAF and as you stated the use of PPE is a last resort. Far too many people being scared into cancelling activities for fear of reprisal. Bulldog, conkers and snowball fights spring to mind.
