Default best way to paint engine?

best way to paint engine in the frame ..... can it be done

the salt been left on over the winter has finally made its way through the paint.

and i want a black engine lol

and what paint should i use

depends on how good a finish you want really, a brush and tin of hammerite will cover things?

however if you want something better then taking the sides off and spraying them would be a compromise to removing the engine, don't forget if the original paint has come off, you'll need to rub it all down and primer it first, if not just rub it down with a scotch pad to key the surface.

thats the only thing thats bothering me ... the finish i could take the side cases off and have them done and then paint the rest by hand, its only the side cases where the paint is flaking

I would love to get my engine painted black...just don't think I could be bothered getting it out do it and if I only did the covers, I know I'd want the rest doing, visible or not.
