Question Pointy fork springs fit GSXR forks?

Hi all, does anyone know if aftermarket pointy 650 springs will fit gsxr usd forks (750k5). Its just ive bought a gsxr and the forks seem a bit soft compared to the sv as ive got a pair of ohlins.95 springs in that. Just wondering if the gsxr uses the same size diameter spring? Been searching this quite a bit but can only find that aftermarket curvey springs fit k1-k3 gsxr's. Any help would be greatly appreciated, not to mention save me another 75 quid! Cheerz

GSXR750K5 FORK SPRING: 08656 length 246

Not even close to fitting.

Thanks for all the replies. Its not the length im worried about, i know sv standard springs are very long but im talking about aftermarket ones. The ohlins in my sv are about half the length of the standard sv ones....i had to make up massive spacers. It was the outer diameter of the gsxr spring i am looking for if anyone has one handy to measure??? :P.

Those figures ive quoted are for the Ohlins injected SV versus GSXR Ohlins springs.

If you have Ohlins springs check the part number etched onto the top of the spring to ensure the springs you have are definatly SV injected springs. It should read 08698.

The GSXR750K5 fork springs as stock are a .85 which work really well in a road SV650 fitted with GSXR750 forks. Unless your above average weight wise. The SV650 fitment springs wont work in those forks due to length and stroke travel of the fork. Sell your SV springs and get the correct ones. No point in going to lengths to put a front end into the bike that potentially when setup right turns the bike into a real gem...and then bodging it! The SV650 doesnt deserve being bodged!

GSXR750K5 Ohlins spring spec:

Length Inner ID Outer ID Wire Diameter Stroke
246..... 23.5-28. 33.5-38.... 5.............. 137

SV650 Ohlins spring spec:

Length Inner ID Outer ID Wire Diameter Stroke
428 .......24.5..... 35 ........5.25........... 212

Sorry matey...it seems you know an awful lot more than me will check the spring numbers. I had to make very large pvc spacers as the ohlins springs i got for the sv were alot shorter than standard. Thanks

Thats ok, my husband is an Ohlins trained suspension technician and I run the service department so its my job..although i profess to not be the real tech geek here!.

The Ohlins springs in the injected SV650 should be the same length as the stock spring. The K-Tech ones can be shorter and require a spacer to be made up. Id check what springs you have as they dont sound right.

Get both forks opened and have a look. If you've got short .95s they might go in and the fork will be none the wiser.

Do the ohlins for those K5 forks have a tighter wind at the bottom? Or just parallel?

The GSXR springs are tapered - my above post with the measurements i have edited to see the specs better.

Not only are the springs designed to meet diameter specs of the fork and length but are also designed to work with the correct stroke of the fork - 2 identical length springs can have a different stroke rating!. Putting the SV spring into the GSXR fork will not work as its far too long and could cause the fork to become coil bound.
