Default Insurance what a con

Well, I have been looking into insurance for the SV1000 & cant believe what a bunch a robbing gits they are.
I was well chuffed with my original quote of £114 fully comp (I'm old, ok )
I thought that I would declare a set of aftermarket silencers (no BHP Gain) & it jumped to £235
I can see why people dont bother declaring their aftermarket bits.

only reason to declare is to get stuff fixed like for like, and tbh ive found that most of the time the originals cost more than the aftermarket one (as insurance always use manifacturor)

main reason to declare is so your insurance is actually valid! Not declaring mod's can leave you screwed when you need to put a claim in

My point is that if you fitted a pattern silencer, even if it was the same as factory spec, the insurance more than doubles, can't really see the sense in it. As Monsieur Preston says, OEM stuff costs a lot more money, so why penalise somebody for using cheaper parts?
