Chain to Belt conversion?
Has anyone tried this mod on a sv650?

Chain = 25000miles
Chain = oil and lube and clean maintenance every 300miles Chain = costly to replace (chain&sprocket) £150 Belt = 60000 miles Belt = ur no maintenance Belt = so cheap to replace Nuff said! |

slightest bit of crap, belt shredded stuck 200 miles from home
Belt slightly out of adjustment, teeth disintegrate, stuck 200 miles from home. Yes a belt will last longer, steals less power etc. but has to take up a large amount of space, and is not as abusable as a chain

Sounds perfect for a commuting bike or even my old XJ550 cruiser. How would it work on a sportier bike though, is a belt up to the job of propelling a quick bike forwards with out stripping off teeth?
 Didn't Yamaha use belts on the Virago? Not sure what other bikes use them except Harley and Buel.

I seem to recall Kawasaki used them on a 350 30 years ago, many converted to chains

 Toothed drive belt (F800S/F800ST) | TRA89245£247.20 INC VATThat's just the belt, so about twice the cost of a C & S set.
