I have a friend who I would like to let borrow my bike.
Called my Insurers and was told that they don't do multi-rider multibike policies. So basically my policy cannot cover him. Is it legal for him to take out a policy to cover him for when he rides my bike, despite there being cover in place on the bike already? Anyone know?

As long as you dont try an claim on both.
I had a situation where by i was covered twice. Once by my company trade insurance and once by my personal bike insurance (which i was letting run out) |

I thought to insure a vehicle it had to be registered in your name? Might depend on the insurer though I guess.

Hold on, ive been corrected by a mate saying :
"Yea, its not possible to have 2 private policies running on one vehicle. Yours was different cus it was a trade one allowing u to ride anything Also the wont insure you if you not the registered keeper, unless its a trade one again when differrent rules apply" Last edited by Rai86; 25-02-11 at 01:51 PM. |

Anyway, I digress. When I bought the Daytona I asked said company about cancelling the policy on the SV. It worked out cheaper to actually keep the policy running, so told them I would keep it going. The lady at the insurance company told me that it was illegal to have insurance running on a vehicle that I, myself didnt own. I kept the SV anyway (& a good job I did), so it wasn't an issue.

Even looked at taking the SV off my multi-bike policy, insuring it elsewhere, even with me as named and him as additional, no one was interested. Wonder if he would be able to get an "any bike in any country" extension to his own policy.

Advantage being that I wouldn't have to do anything, except, technically, due to it being an offence to allow someone to drive your vehicle without insurance, have him show me a copy of said cover extension.
