I would like to know if i could use a few ratchet straps to lift and hold the weight of my bike via the frame so that i can change the rear shock?
I intend to use the beams in my garage as the point to 'anchor' from. I would love an abba stand or even to let a garage do it but im strapped for cash no pun intended. |

Did you use ratchet straps so you could get the lift or did you just use force and then tie off normal straps? I'm thinking i may have to go out and buy a rear paddock stand so i have the stability so i can give it some with the fear of it falling over.

Tied the straps off once they had taken the weight so i could get the shock out. Got a bit of help when putting new shock back in as there was a bit of jiggling to get the holes to line up to take the bolts.

I used breeze blocks under the rider foot-pegs on my curvy. Lifted on via paddock stand, but you could use ratchet straps as a hoist. Axle stands would be better. Did the job no problem.
FWIW I used ratchet straps to lift the front end up to do the forks, lifted it with no issues.

I did my shock change using ratchet straps. You have to be carefull to lift the bike a little at a time, and space the straps as wide as you can over the beam to stop it wobbling.
