Default What bike next?

OK so i passed the DAS around 6 months ago and had a bandit 650 (k6) waiting for me, the bandit is a nice comfy bike to ride plus I like to look of them, however they are also boring as hell to ride once you get used to them.

Ive been out on the brothers SV650-S a few times and I love the position the confidence inspiring feel of the bike, in every way its better than a bandit (other than comfort).

My plan is to wait until I have 1 year no claims this year (June) and then look at something a bit more "sporty". I was initially looking at an SV but i do fancy something a bit quicker, gixxer 600 maybe?

Does anyone have any input or recommendations?

Cheers in advance

Depends what you want to do with it and how quickly you get bored with things. SV is a good place to go and you've found already that you like it.

Nowt with with the GSXR 6, get a test ride and make your own mind up on that one. Any prefernce engine config wise ?

it may sound daft but I love the rumble of the twins yet I prefer (ever so slightly) the revvy IL4. If only I could have both

Im still a new rider, but I want to get a bike that has a limit above my riding ability, I know a more experience rider could ride my bandit a hell of a lot better than me but the bandit just doesn't inspire me, the bike lack feel, confidence and doesn't feel planted like an SV.

I posted a month or so back that I wanted to swap to an SV but I want something with a bit more speed (bandit/SV are near identical in a straight line speed).

Im sure an SV would be a step up however I don't want to change in another 6 months, my brother wants to upgrade after 12 months but he just cant afford to, If i was on a strict budget I would get an SV but luckily I have a few quid spare

Triple will give you what you want in that department, so anything Triumph based take your fancy.

Also the smaller engine'd Ducati 749 / 848 are revy in nature, but obviously retain the twin sound. My g/f has a 749 and its the only twin I have ever ridden that has a power band and it rev's up really quickly just like my GSXR does. But that might not be what you are after price wise etc etc.

I'll be honest i'm not that into Ducati's
I do however like the Triumph's however and must admit I do also fancy a Triumph

I suppose the easiest way would be to test ride some, however it would appear a test ride is out of the question until I have had my license for 12 months (september)

I was thinking gixxer as I fancied something shape and responsive, however i am 6ft 2" so that may change when i test ride one

EDIT - worth noting that I only ride for pleasure, I don't commute on the bike

If its purely for pleasure it sounds like your edging toward the triumph 675. They do look the bollox and ive heard they go prety well too. Plus its british

Gixxer is a good bike but insurance is a killer, sv's are cheap to insure cost me £96 fc my zx6 jumped to £266 fc and the tuono is over £400 fc you need to calculate this into your budget really, and say to yourself are you ready for such a powerful machine? oh and of cause sv's are very cheap to buy unlike a decent gixxer.

Seen some pretty mint gixxers about for about £2,500, there are bargains to be had if you look hard enough/patient enough!

Devils advocate here:

Why not?

If he has a bike which has a limit below his riding ability, then theorectically speaking he cannot raise his limit right?
