My first proper bike! - SV650.org

Hey guys,

Hope this is the right place for this? if not could an admin/mod please move it to the correct place!

After a few weeks of getting as much info on SV's as i could, i started looking at bikes, and i found this one literally on my doorstep:

she's an SK1, 18000 on the clocks, 3 owners, and generally in fantastic condition. Has been Alpha DOT'd. has a Scorpion Can (which sounds immense!), heated grips, Fender extender, rear hugger and double bubble screen.

I had my Wifes uncle check the bike over for me as he has been riding, building and racing Motorbikes ( inc SV650's ) for longer than i have been breathing!

the only niggle he could find with the bike was the headstock bearings, and the front brake could do with bleeding. Not bad really considering he is an utter perfectionist!

Current plans are to give her a service, Oil and filter, air filter and Plugs.
Bleed brakes
Replace Headstock bearings

Pass my test and Ride her!!!

Cheers guys, im totally in love with it! My wife is already ready to kill me as i keep on scouring ebay/classifieds for bits and bobs!

As for the oil change, im thinking Silkolene 10w 40 should be ok through winter?

K&N Oil filter
Iridium spark plugs
Anodized Bobbins for front
Fuel filler cover
Headstock bearings

and im still going.....

Want the bike and me 100% ready for the day my licence is done! ( 3weeks and counting!)

Where do i find the colour code for my bike? Got a couple small stone chips on tank and front fairing i want to touch in....

I think it's YC2 at a guess, Grand Candy blue like mine. Think I found it somewhere in the paperwork - but I'm sure someone with better knowledge than me can offer a more definitive answer shortly!

Was the helmet new? I wouldn't recommend buying second hand helmets.

On another note the bike looks tiday. Enjoy mate and good luck with the test when it comes round
