YC, Berlin, All those racer engineering types - help me get this bolt out!

now it's not seized in because I've managed to turn anti clockwise so it's now loose. I've managed to get it almost out, but now when turning anti clockwise it kind of jams a little bit, push it a bit harder and it frees up again, ok carry turn it a little more and it goes stiff again, apply some more pressure and it frees up again again.

But it's not getting winding all the way out, it's like it's stuck on the same few bits of thread.

I've tried applying upwards pressure to said bolt with a screwdriver whilst turning anti clockwise but still same results.

Btw - it's a bolt which holds a tie down point into the floor of a van.. thanks in advance!

you will have to wait till this evening for either YC or Carl's advice, they're at Croft in the loverly sunshine today Alternatively give YC a bell.

paul i'd go with the shoving as big a screwdriver under it you can get and working it free with pulling on the head with grips or some thing

indeed brute force and ignorance in equal measures tends to win

I would just rag it out normally but the threaded hole is gonna be used to bolt in a folding bed, so I don't really wanna bugga the tread thanks for the replies though guys!

The thread sounds knackered already, probably stripped the last few threads on the bolt and damaged the nut too. If this is a captive nut in the floor, can you access it from underneath? If so a replacement nut could be fitted if not, drilling out and re-cutting the thread might be of use to you.

Crowbar or claw hammer under the head while turning it could get it out, but the damage is probably already done.

bloody sake, cheers jayne really appreciate it. I kind of got the impression that the thread has stripped further up from the end of the bolt, hence why it's come out thus far but is now spinning round & round

Is not a threaded insert and it's now spinning in it's hole?

I just use packing and the a crowbar to pull it, sometimes they pop out and others they tighten up in the hole enough for the bolt to come out. An insert tool is an essential item for putting in new ones.

There isn't a nut one the end of the bolt that contacts the captive one when you undo it?

sounds like a captive nut. have a look underneath to see if you can see anything
