Afternoon all!
Planning a bike trip to Germany for around 5 days and would just like some help on listing absolute essentials as I've never done anything like this before. Got things covered like new tyres, chain and service before setting off but what tools, fluids etc should I take ![]() Thanks for your help in advance as always ![]() |

Spare oil, chain lube, bulbs and fuses. Zip ties and some duck tape, you never know

Try Swinton for breakdown cover if you haven't got any. They do monthly instead of annual and can include Europe.
I'm sure you can think what consumables your bike uses - but don't think about it 'cos you can nip home to get them - it will only use the same but they will be harder to get. ![]() |

Zip ties are a good idea! Is it worth buying one of those clip on's that fix your gear/brake lever if you come off? (Hoping that this never happens!)
Someone said I need to take a Hi-Viz vest??? |

You do not need to take a hi-vis vest for driving in Germany http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice...ps/germany.pdf But some countries do require you have a hi-vis for breakdowns, so you may need it for any countries you are passing through. |

First aid kit! Pretty sure you need to have one in Germany.
You can fit all of the above (apart from the gaffer tape and oil) under the rear seat on the curvy. Last edited by dyzio; 21-02-11 at 02:38 PM. |

Spare key, obviously kept away from your main set and not left with the bike!

Seems obvious but: original V5 (not a copy) and insurance (+brakedown cover) certificate

Swap spare keys with travel buddies unless you're travelling alone.
Fix a pegs are a good idea in case you snap the end of a gear lever. And another essential: DO SoME AUTOROUTE WITH NO SPEED LIMIT! |
