Default Bit of leakage from a full tank

Filled up to brim just before I got to work, rode rest of way to work (1 mile).

Left bike outside in the sun

Took bike out to get lunch, when I took it off the side stand and had her straight, I smelt petrol and heard a hissing sound. Looked down and fuel had leaked out of the petrol cap and down my tank.

I know this is due to being sat outside and the petrol gas expanding in the heat, but can someone please tell me this is normal!

Or is it about to explode.

Thanks

If it is releasing pressure in any way shape or form no problem.
Is there not an overflow on the SV? surely the tank is ventilated in some form.

Ullage is to allow for expansion, the cubic capacity of most liquids is greater when hot so when it is sunny I don't quite fill mine to the brim unless I am intending doing a few mile before my next stop.
Biggest danger being a tossed fag end as any around the engine generally vapourises straight off due to the heat

Ya, I thought if it needed to overflow it would do so somewhere other than the filler cap.

Wondering if this is a sign something is blocked somewhere...

? Tank breather----------sorry so long since I had an SV I can't remember the set up. Some bikes breath through a little hole in the filler cap.

Could be, there is drain tube at side of cap which should allow any overflow/rain water easy passage out of the bike via tubes behind clutch cover.
