Default Running temperature?

Hello again .orgers

Anyway what with all this lovely weather and promises of 20+ degrees tomorrow its got me worrying!!

After putting some 5-40w castrol oil in my bike last week...(i do know its meant to be 10 but was just topping up) i've been watching my temp rise all the time!

Its maxxed out at about 105 before the lights went green and it had me shtting my pants. When rolling it comes down to about 80/90 but im wondering if thats hot??

I tried a search but after 10 pages of irrelevance i gave up

Opinions welcome!! ....im still trying to find the camera to put a viddy up of the exhaust you lot helped me with.

Default Re: Temperature!...sorry i tried a search!

my fan kicks in at 104 and prob reached 106 on really hot day..usual running temp is 86/87 rising to 92 when in london

Dont worry I thought my bike was over heating when I first saw it was at 100 and stopped by the road side waiting for it to cool down .

I thought 80 - 110 was normal - correct me if I'm wrong. I certainly wouldn't worry about 105.

I saw 105 last year when waiting at a train crossing in summer. Wasn't concerned.

It's fine. 'Normal' running temperature when moving - if there is such a thing - will typically be high 80s to high 90s. Come to a halt and the temperature will rise, this is normal, as long as the fan controls the temperature, that is to say that it comes on and then the temperature falls, after it's gone down about 5 degrees it goes off, all is well.
Depending on the individual bike the fan should come on at about 105ish degrees, dependant on exact circumstance the temperature can often rise a degree or so after the fan comes on, that's nornmal too, but once the fan has been on for a while or so the temperature will start to fall, the fan off temperature is lower than the fan on and it should go off at about 100 degrees.
Expect to see the temperature rise again once the fan switches off, then it starts all over again.
