Default Celebrating the royal wedding?

Apparenty two of my aunties/uncles are having street parties to celebrate the royal wedding.....

I personally couldn't care less. Seems weird to me but maybe they are just using it as an excuse for a street party, dunno.

Anyone else doing anything/nothing to celebrate?

I think I'd rather spend the day licking a hot iron

Don't know them, didn't get an invite. Was quite indifferent to it all until earlier today when it turned out that 'next day' parts would be tuesday so the vw camper would have to stay in the garage over the weekend because of the royal wedding.

Managed to persuade the garage to re-assemble the camper at no extra cost and let me have it back over the weekend, then return it to them when the parts come in...... phew

as for the wedding - a street party? Do we look like we're from latin america? Wtf?

is there a Royal Wedding??? Would never have guessed!

But seriously.. good for them, but i personally have no interest in it, and am fed up with seeing it all over the tv. I'm beginning to wonder what was on TV before they announced the wedding!?!

Thanks for the day off though

I aren't too fussed about the Royal family, was saying to AndyBrad tother day as it happens. They're a tourist attraction, may as well be in a zoo. They bring in a fair amount of people spending money....just like in a zoo!

I am getting a bit fed up of the weddin malarky, only the fact I can't get on with things cause I don't know which half of the country is closed for business, and I have a lot of bill type things to be getting along with.

I do however enjoy the horsey things with the guardsmen bobbing up n down in their shiny helmets, I do whenever theres something ont telly, but I don't go out of my wy to be waving flags, and closing streets for a party.....chavs fo that any way down at Pikey Towers when they have a scooby doo meet!

As Peg says, theres always a Royal wedding when theres a recession. JUst to take our silly minds away from the bigger picture!

Well I will sound like a broken record but it all winds me up. I'm totally anti, I don't mind if people want to swoon to the royals and I'd never fall out with anyone I liked over it, but I've never understood how being proud to British has got faded into the Royal seat.

Anyway, that said, I work in London and live in Surrey blah blah middle class commuter haven and you would think I'd see a lot of Royal fervour? I must say that although I try to avoid it, I see only about 1 in 10 or so shops with the flags up, everyone that I have spoken to who actually say that they are celebrating qualifies "celebrating" means going to a BBQ to have a few or more beers and they're not really fussed.

So I'm sure I'm not the first to think that despite the undoubted crowds that will line the route, maybe most of it is press hype and the majority of the population are getting a bit tired of it all and could take it or leave it?

Maybe, maybe not?

There a bit of celebration going on in my village, and I'll be joining in with the BBQ and beer . I will keep one eye on the telly in the morning and see what's worth watching. I actually quite like Prince's William and Harry (or at least what the public see of them), whereas I don't very much like the crew they spawned from. Once the current generation have popped their clogs and Wills is in charge, I think the Royals will be much more popular. They are no more than a tourist attraction in real practical terms, but then I quite like going to see some of Britains other tourist attractions.
