Im around 60 miles away on the clock from the 1st 500 miles done after the rebuild. The oil was changed around the 250 mark due to the wrong type but everythings fine. The thing is the bikes bedded in now. Everything that was taken to bits seems to have 're-matched' up and the whole machine isnt missing a beat. I'm starting up the revs beyond the 5k mark and theres nothing unsual feeling about it apart from what a throttle balance would probably sort out. Theres very little if no 'popping' sounds. The fuel economy is spot on. Im getting around 130 miles from it before the fuel light comes on and even at that it goes off around that mark so it's borderline reserve with that many miles per tank.
The clearances were checked before the strip and after the rebuild with the machine on the bench and was fine and within spec. I'm just thinking would there be any point bearing in mind how it's running in doing this and upsetting the machine again? Theres maybe an obvious thing to spot when the clearances are needing done and i'd be losing nothing by holding off doing this until winter.

It won't hurt to check, nor will it risk upsetting it if you do it right.
Then again if the clearance was correct before strip and after rebuild there is no reason it should move.

It's the whole moving stuff out the way to check that i'd rather not do. I'd be a stickler making sure the cams are oiled right and the covers have the liquid gasket removed and put back on right. After all the meticulous work i did getting it back on the road im tending to think i'd keep the job on hold until later this year and i aint going to let a garage touch it either as i know im competent to do the job myself.
I'm thinking its good for another 10k before i even think about it according to the measurements i posted in a older thread. p.s. Thats the quickest reply ive ever seen!
