Kinda sudden, but I'm contemplating selling the Falco.
As much as I had fun on it, recently whilst waiting for a ferry I started chatting to a d675 owner, who let me sit on their bike. This made me realise how much I miss a lighter/smaller bike ![]() The bike is more of a toy for me, I'm doing about 10k a year (1 big trip + weekends, AR's etc), commuting is minimal. I realise that if I'm going to comfortably reach the ground or push the thing around, I must be looking at 800cc bikes max (can't afford a new Fireblade). i also do a bit of euro riding (two 4k miles euro trips in the past 2 years), whilst I know the sensible thing would be to look for a vfr or sprint st - I'm afraid that they will feel similar to the Falco - too big and heavy. Hence I'm looking at sports bikes ![]() The Daytona I sat on felt great, I'm worried about the price £5k for a 2008 model and riding position is being described as extreme or very focused. On some days we did 400-500 miles, not common but we needed to get from a to b. My other thought was a 2006 Ninja 636, fried at work had one, I rode it for a few miles but that was when I had my license for only a year. Local dealer has one on show so I might ask for a test ride. Even tough my mate travels with me on a 600rr, somehow I'm not tempted. Same goes for 600/750 gsxr (at least for now). Or could someone suggest a "sports" bike, which will allow a bit of Euro travelling, feel light and allow a relative short ars (1.7m) to reach the ground? Ta! |

tbh i love the d675 but its not the bike for around here. much too focused. in reality i think 600rr is probably the best real world sportsbike and something like a street trip the best for fun?

Even though you said you're not tempted, a GSX-R 750 K6 onwards would suit your needs and I'm fairly sure you should be able to touch the ground. Uses the 600 chassis, just with a bigger engine fitted so you don't have to rev nuts off, although when you do it is mental. K6 onwards have adjustable pegs so adds a bit of comfort potential. Out of the supersport type bikes I've sat on it's definitely the more comfortable of the later models
I have the K7 and did a mini-tour in UK in May which was just shy of 2k miles in four days and it never missed a beat. Will be taking it to Germany in July and then France/Spain in September. The trip in September is with about ten or so others, of which 7 or so will be 750s - the first day alone will be hammering it down to the Pyranees in a single stint from Caen. I just wouldn't rule it out without trying one. Suprisingly fuel efficient as well...not that that matters, but motorway runs can easily get near to 200 miles to a tank cruising at 85ish. Forgot to mention...insurance. For me at least the 750 was far less than the 600s to insure. |

GSXR750 would be perfect (if you can't stretch to the fireblade of course
![]() I'm suprised you found the D675 ok though, as it's pretty damn tall. If you can fit on that without any bother you can probably fit on anything.

I'm not thinking about a Street, I had 500 miles to get to Portsmouth through the night, half of which was in pi$ing rain, wouldn't want to do that on a naked bike :/ |

I loved my 600RR. It's true that it didn't have great mid range grunt and you had to "work" it, but that was all part of the fun for me. It handled brilliantly, was more than fast enough and I did two or three Euro trips on it. It's not ideal for touring (d'uh), but was capable of it. I used to go with a ruck sack and a couple of soft panniers for a weeks trip. No bother.
