After a hectic couple of days, managed to do cbt on sat, traing on sunday, passed mod 1 on monday with no minors and passed mod 2 on tues!! only got a couple of minors, i put my foot down after about 5 yards of leaving test centre and was a bit wobbly for a bit (was very windy and the test centre is on the edge of an airfield) soon settled down and no further faults! Has been absolutley knackering with some early starts (7.00 am from the school) ears are killing me from the radio earpiece and i kept getting pins and needles in both hands, $hit gloves or gripping the handlebars to tightly? Can't wait till friday, (payday!!) so i can mot and insure the sv- wondering what it will be like compared to the gs500 i have been riding?
Hopefully see a few of you out and about (bikers seem to be a sociable lot, was nodding almost all the time!) |

Congrats and welcome to the club! I remember the day I ripped my L's off. I get P&N but find it's because I'm gripping too hard.

![]() Fenjer's right about noticing the difference, I learned on an ER5 which is pretty similar in power and weight to the GS500. The SV leaves it for dead on all counts - acceleration, brakes, overall speed in general and nicer handling. You are going to love it! And yes, I nod at almost everyone! ![]() |

Congrats, especially taking into account the conditions!
You'll find the SV loads faster to start with but you'll get used to that. Slow and easy while you get some miles in and you'll soon forget that rubbish old bike! You'll also learn not to hold on so tight. Your left hand can be pretty much floppy in normal riding conditions but confidence will come after you've got some distance under your belt. Get loads of miles in over the dry days and get used to everything that goes on when you're on 2 wheels. Slow and steady to start with. You'll love it! ![]() |

Congrats on passing!
I learned on a gs 500 myself when I took my test a few years back! The SV is a brilliant starter bike, Im pretty sure you will enjoy it more than the GS! ![]() |

Cheers everyone, just started getting insurance quotes-using go compare. The best quote so far is with ebike, coming out at £178. Seems that when i list the mods (exhaust, rear sets and belly pan) most have declined to quote-only 3 prices so far- yet when i listed it standard there was loads, best price of £112.
Anyone used/using ebike? Any good? Any others i should be trying? Cheers BriF |
