Default agggh I hate no feckin help desks

Ours has just assigned me a job. The control system on a fuel cell system is not calculating air mass flow correct when configured for steam reforming of the fuel gas using a gas ratio. No problem I wrote the system last year and after talking with the rig operator I think I can get to the bottom of the problem within a day or two. There is no SLA, it is best endeavours on my part. If I cannot fix it, nobody in the company can.

So I have had two emails now from the hell desk, they are escalating it and have asked my director why I have not fixed a bug within two hours of getting the call. I am still waiting for the help desk to put the development system I have specified onto my laptop so I can load the software to look for the bug.

Help desks they are ferkin usless, last week they assigned me a 3 month old call asking for advice. I gave it within 10 mins of receipt and an apology that the help desk had sat on the request all this time. Do you have to be thick to work on them these days. When I set up our first we had something like 80% first time fix. These days I bet they don't achieve 20%.

i feel your pain mr wilky. is it just me or is most of the uk full of incompetent people doing jobs they hate and are no good at them.

there my little rant over. lol
