Default Tyre question

Have not had my SV for long and it came with these 'Nearly' new Bridgestone BT023 tyres which looked scrubbed in and lots of tread. My first regular inspection i noted these shallow grooves off center running around both tyres.
Is this normal?
I would have though that moulding would be along centerline to allow both sides of mould to come away cleanly, from previous experience (many moons ago admitedly)

Picture are best i could get.

I have bridgestone battlax 021's and have the same thing. I have no idea what it's from or why it's there but it seems normal

Default Re: Tyre question

If they're dual or multi compound it's probably the line where two different compounds meet. Lots of tyres have these lines. Although I can't say I've ever seen grooves as such.

Is it definitely a groove and not two different levels?

Yep. very shallow groove.

After a bit of googling:
Dont think it is a compound change as edge compound is shown further out on both sides of the tyre on Bridgestone website.

But came across just two references to this:-

A static disipating line ? Can anyone else confirm this?
If so then whatever material it is wears easier than the tyre compond it is in.

Nice find. Can't confirm whether it's true but appears to be the same line in question?
