Default BRINK - advice please you gamers

I'm not an habitual gamer. I loved Gears of War, and some other shooters with a story. I remember a while ago seeing a film snippet about the making of Brink and being impressed, it just looked different. I only noticed today its been released. Like I said I'm not a gamer but is it a real step up in originality as a game?

Anyone played it? What do you think?

I've got brink. It is completely different from the trailers. There is very little plot to it, while the ads implies there is a fair bit to it. This is basically a multiplayer team shooter along the veins of team fortress 2. If you like that sort of team work game that you have to play online then it is all good otherwise wait until it comes on budget to give it a go, it shouldn't be very long.

Yes I'm coming to that conclusion, it looked good in the previews, but then so much often does. If it's just an online shoot em up, then it's no good for me, everyone else that would be playing would be better than me. Cheers.

I rented it from Bollockbusters , the most aggravating game I have played in a long time , and I had to drop down to easy mode . You keep getting hammered on one type of game and then the next one you breeze through . Then when you "get" the game and how to play it , you just walk through it . If you want a game that is different and entertaining then try Portal 2 , I thoroughly enjoyed that on a 5 day rental

Brother rented BRINK. I played it for 15 minutes the other night and thought it was terrible.
Last night decided that wasnt fair as I didn't play it for long, so I put it on for 45 minutes and decided I liked it less than the first time!
So glad I didn't buy it.

From what I hear it looks nice and has a nice premise, but it's just another repetitive team shooter that's not that great. There's a reason all talk of it dried up within a week of it coming out (huge lag and server problems) not to mention the colossal price drop.

I'd recommend you try Section 8: Prejudice. It's only 1200MSP (about a tenner). Download the demo, play the singleplayer demo section (only lasts about 10 minutes) to get used to the controls and then jump into the multiplayer, you're allowed to play for about 30 minutes in the trial. It's really deep and complex, there's lots of different weapons and abilities, vehicles, jetpacks.

The problem with almost all of these sorta games on consoles, though, is there's no teamplayer unless you get really lucky with the randoms you get paired with, or if you play with a group of friends.

ATM I'm mostly playing Section 8 and Homefront for my multiplayer shootery. Brink didn't interest me in the slightest.

Suprisingly, I've been playing the new Mortal Kombat game recently, and I'm not one for button-mashing fighting games. But I've gotta say, they improved it ALOT from the old arcade style, quarter-eaters. The story (yes, it's got a story!) is actually pretty entertaining and the new fatalities are gruesome.

But of course, I would recomend Portal 2 for just about anybody. Awesome game to pick up, really easy to get a hold on to the gameplay, and really addicting.
