Another value my bike type thread... looking at changing bikes but not sure what I'd get for mine. This turned out a bit longer than planned
![]() It's been down the road once, and the track once also. Road crash was a lowside in North Wales on a B road, not at any great speed. Damage done consisted of scraping the front cowl and snapping the end of the gear change lever. I picked it up and road it the 50 miles home without issue. Track was Oulton Park, very wet. Too much front brake, oops! Down it went. Wasn't going quick as into a corner in the wet and stayed on the tarmac. Damage done was a bit more added to the scrape to the front cowl, and this time a little to the rear also. Again I picked up and road it to the pits where we checked it over properly. Nothing more done so continued with the rest of the day (after missing one session being checked out by the doctors) and then rode it back home without any problems also. Bike is a 2005 model registered on an 06 plate. Colour is YC2 (Candy Grand Blue). I bought it with less than 3000 miles on the clock in April 2009. It's now got around 18,500 miles but still being used so ever increasing. Has a lovely Yoshimura exhaust, OEM touring screen, undertray/tail tidy and seat cowl plus infills (grab rail and pillion seat also included). Also have a rear luggage rack for it. It's been serviced by independants for most things since getting it and also myself for frequent oil/filter changes. Had the major service including valve clearance check (didn't need adjusting) at the specified time with a local garage (Two Wheel Workshop, with Jenny Tinmouth of BSB). Tyres are Michelin Pilot Road 3's with around 2,500 miles on them, and brilliant they are! Has had Goodridge braided lines put on along with HH sintered pads all round, and has had the fork oil changed etc. It has the lowers on, but a 3mph drop on ice with the OEM crash bungs (which are rubbish) on (there's a post on here about this somewhere) saw the bung mount bend and crack the left fairing (also lost a gear lever here, this saw me miss the Hardy Bikers weekend!). It's gaffa taped together on the inside and has been like that for over a year with no problems. Mechanically it's sound, cosmetically it has a few battle scars. Never bothered me enough to fix them as it's only fairing and it adds character ![]() No idea what to advertise it for though, but anything stupidly low and it will be kept as a second bike as there's nothing wrong with it and I still love it for weekend blasts, just me wanting a bike more suited to distance touring. |

Surprised no replies... had a couple of offers via PM. It's going to be stay as a second bike for the time being though! And more than likely going to end up on track unless a decent offer is had

http://www.parkers.co.uk/motorbikes/used-prices/Valuation.aspx?plate=79&deriv=7047 Here you go, should give you a fair idea. Given that it's been down the road a couple of time and used on a track I would aim at the lower end. After market goodies don't really count for anything, not everybody wants them.

Chris, I watched a fair few bikes on Ebay that were similar age/mileage/condition to my silver VFR before settling on a price I think is fair. I've taken a few items off to return it to standard and will make a few more quid that way. It might help to watch a few on Evilbay to get an idea of real world prices. Autotrader prices are a bit more tricky as you never know what the final selling price is, but with Ebay you do get an idea...
Silver VFR is going on Ebay as soon as I get the photos taken.
