ferrari 360 day

Was a Crimbo pressie to each other .. and we bolted it on to the return from our hols to end the hols in a nice way ..

Was a dry day .. almost hot- we chose Donington Park. cos Silverstone was sooo expensive.. in our favour as it happens as the instructor said Silverstone is very technical and Donington is like a scalextric track - easy loop with just a dip and one bad chicane.. so good for first timers.

We had a ferrari drive - 3 laps and then a flying 4 laps with a touring car driver in either a 120bp Lotus elise or a 420BHP !!! touring car.


Was a good few hours- I know many of you have done these kind of days.




Mand a bit nervous on way in - registered then hang around for an hour til our slot time for a briefing.. so took some pics.

















25 minute briefing in a large group and shown the track layout- whilst all the time behind us ferraris, aerial atom, Audi R8 , Lotus' Formula 3 (?) Aston Martins etc are flying past..










Then off to the pits.. passing the heroes on the way .

Then first sight of the cars.

and out to our practice cars.. Alfa Gullietta.. (same as Matt Sv's but nicer cos in white.. ha )





all excited and ready to go




just time to glance right at the loverrrly lambo's









Then get in the Alfa with an instructor and three "students" to be driven round the track and shown the cones and braking points etc..






I was in front so sneaked me cam out and tried to video his instructions.. turn yer sound up click on the pic below for video.. (he is a bit boring tbh but the ride was good and you can see the speed of the Lotus overtaking us)






Then it was back to the pits and wait our turn for a ferrari drive. !

So we were allocated number 5 Ferrari and Mand was to go first - HA !


Was paddle change on the steering wheel.. instructor had a kill switch and controlled the indicators too if someone was coming up behind us.. plus mirrors were set up for instructor all we had to do was driiiiive..

Also had dual brakes , so no worries then! hmmmmmmmmmm I was carping meself

Now , my instructor was chris something or other.. he has won the touring car championship in the past and is a brilliant driver the other instructors were saying. Think his surname began with an H . his son races now too and is apparently good.

He taught jenson Button so I heard and is still involved in touring cars behind the scenes.

Looks like an ace day

was a brilliant day .. and to top it off a ride with a pro driver in a lotus.. I have never been so scared but with a smile on my face..







I was crying out inside for him to break and he is still accelerating before changing down wayy later than I would dare and breaking so hard so late.. then across to the apex and whooosh drifting out to the side with a smell of rubber.. loved it

I remember being nervous when I've done those days. But a few minutes after getting in the car I had forgotten all about being nervous.
