Default First road kill on my bike :)

Coming home from Somerleyton at a reasonable speed and making the most of the nice weather, I go round a corner to find a pigeon casually sitting in the middle of the road.
"****.", followed by a massive sense of relief as it starts flying away.
Once in the air it instantly turns round and decides to fly off the opposite way it took off. This was a bad idea.
I'm approaching at 90ish mph and it takes a direct impact on my right knee. It was a massive thud but somehow at the time didn't really hurt thanks to my knee armour and slider.
That pigeon is certainly a write off. This all happened in the space of a couple of seconds.
Got home and cleaned the surprisingly tiny amount of flesh off my knee and now it's beginning to throb! I can definitely feel that I've had a good smash to it.
I'm SO SO pleased that it didn't get any higher and hit my head, like barwell experienced, or my chest. Also... I really don't wanna hit anything solid like the road, a car or a tree at that speed.
Fingers crossed it doesn't hurt anymore than the throbbing at the moment!

A close call I don't wish to repeat.

I had one miss my head by about an inch last weekend when I was pushing on up the A11. Scary stuff.

Dear Sir,

I would like to express my anger and disgust and this shameless post that is nothing more than a youthful boast from a speed freak

You should be ashamed of yourself, if you'd been driving at a reasonable speed that poor likkle bird would be alive right now. You are out of order.

Regards

Bill Oddie

My mate was riding home from work on his bmw following a car when 3, yes 3 badgers walked out in front of them. This was 4pm broad daylight lol. Unfortunately the car hit the middle one and the other two scarpered. If he was any sooner who knows. Its sad that ive only seen a badger as road kill...

Hit a pigeon once doing about 70ish in a car. It went straight through the plastic grill and gently cooked on the radiator - smelt revolting by the time I stopped!

Funnier than that though is one of our van drivers. He hit a pheasant which went straight through the grill of his van. He could reach to get it out so he brought the van into the yard the following morning so that we could take the remains of the grill off to extract the bird. We removed the grill. And. It. Moved! Completely freaked out the driver, who refused to go near the vehicle again until we'd got it out. The bl00dy thing was still alive and once we'd got it out, it walked off up the yard, happy as you like. It had obviously just been stunned and gone to sleep in the nice warm dark place. It was last seen rejoining a group of other pheasants in the next door field.

Hitting the road at half that speed stung a bit, but the morphine was good

I took out a pidgeon with my shoulder a couple of summers ago.
He managed to explode guts and gore onto my chest and neck so looks like you got off well!
