Default She won't start, Maybe I shouldn't have dropped her so hard?

I recently (two weeks tomorrow) came off my little SV just after getting Lowers on her etc etc (well I ruined all the left side panels). This aside I need to know some things.

LINK TO MY ACCIDENT THREAD OF WHICH PICTURES WILL BE ON LATER

Though it was such a minor accident!

She went off to the insurers who have deemed her "Uneconomical to Repair" So as its just left bumps and scratches and a few bits and bobs broken I'm going to repair her as she is my first bike and I love her :P

I haven't seen her in nearly two weeks but as I recall its all minor there was no engine damage and the radiator didn't gush its guts, though dribbled a bit and I mean a few drips while lying on her side as I plucked myself up and realised lifting a bike with a broken thumb wasn't going to happen.

Regardless I'm not here to rant about this. She wouldn't start after the accident. I wasn't going to ride her but wanted to hear her roar just to say shes ok.

The accident was all left hand side and I stapped the Gear changer off where it mounts to the bike and couldn't change her to Neutral but I've not known this to be a problem as when I stall I pull the clutch fully in with her in first and it works I'm pretty sure though its been ages since I did that so can't be sure.

Either way all lights came on but the Alarm wouldn't (its a Wh*re its the Datatool 3 that we all love) I have no issues with it persay but it did used to go off when Alarmed and the key turned in the ignition which she just doesn't when I tried at the incident. Lights come on and shows Ready to start (Though no Neutral she'll be stuck in Third or Second) With ofcourse the clutch fully pulled in as normal.

The Datatool still functioned with beeping to say alarmed or not and the nudge detection went off once rolling her off the road. I can't figure out what really could be the issue.

Reckon its major? Or just something come out/nudged out of place. If I recall could it be immobilised if so how do I un-immobilise her? In the manual for the alarm there is a small paragraph that reads and I quote

"IMPORTANT - If there is a Failure within the control unit, or if the unit detects spurious or missing signals from the motorcycle, the alarm control unit will not immobilise the motorcycle until the ignition is switched OFF.

The motorcycle will not start again until the "fault" has been rectified"

I don't have the pin for the bike either.

Any help? Any ideas?

When you say 'won't start' you mean it doesn't crank over?
Things to check: Neutral switch, clutch switch, side stand switch, engine kill switch, if all ok as as required for starting then remove alarm/immobiliser and put back to standard.

If it's gone down on the left it could be the sidestand switch or clutch lever switch, you have checked the kill switch haven't you ?

Ofcourse I checked the kill switch ... I've done that oops a daisy before! And by won't start I do mean yes it won't crank over hitting the ignition button did nothing. I've not got her back yet however, I'll check all those once I get her back I just find it strange that the alarm wasn't going off when the key was turned in the ignition with it alarmed. I'd have no idea on removing the Alarm/immobiliser though :S ... Never had much of an issue with it.

To crank there needs to be a connection between battery and starter motor relay, so battery, fuse, ignition switch, side stand, neutral, clutch, kill, alarm. When you get it back it should be fairly straight forward to check through this path but it will help if you have a wiring diagram. As above, it might be as simple as a damaged side stand switch. Fret not until you've had some quiet time together go through it carefully plus you have some SV experts in Plymouth to call on if needed....You are not alone..

Could it be a stuck or damaged tipover sensor? Does the curvey have this?

Check symptoms against tipover threads.

No tipover switch on the curvy.

The likely culprits have been mentioned. It could also be as simple as having the stand down while you were trying to start - it won't fire up in gear with the stand down, even with the clutch pulled in.

Good Point Tam, As it was before going A&E and after I was in a Sling with a broken had I never took the weight don't think I tried starting with the stand up. I was a little bashed up, Head hit the floor while my left hand took the bike on it. I'm curious to how it all looked, TBH they should've sussed this out while assessing the bike to being worth repair or scrap. But she doesn't deserve to be scrap at all!

I really doubt its the Battery it was new no more than a few months ago and the Lights on the dials showed easily and I know a flat as I had a **** one in there when I got her at the start of the Year.

Check the link at the top for all pictures. I just wanted to post the damage so you guys can see better what I'm on about, you can see where the things stapped and why I couldn't get it out of gear.

Don't know know what your guys opinions'll be but I easily reckon repairable. Just looking out for new left side Plastics, in the darker Yellow but if its a lower then I'll take any colour.
