Default Bank fees claims companies

Being off work for 3 weeks with a broken collar bone can drive you to do strange things that you wouldn't normally do. I am that bored that I have re-connected my home phone line and stared answering all the sales calls I gt on it.

Had an interesting one this morning, a company called Lifestyle claims as asked me a few very brief questions like have I ever had a mortgage, loan or credit card in the last 20 years. I said yes to all 3, the lady then pressed some buttons and said I should be able to claim back about £12,000!! Coincidentally the same price as a brand new Fireblade

Now I have never taken payment protection out, I have never missed a loan or mortgage payment and most of the time pay my credit card off in full the same month or 2 or 3 months after so were they got this figure from I have not idea.

All I need to do is pay then £350 which I will be able to claim back as one of the charges so technically it will cost me nothing.

Now I am always dubious about anyone who cold calls but this company wasn't pushy, they gave me an address based in Swansea, and the woman even gave me her name and direct telephone number.

Has anyone had any dealings with companies such as this. My first thought is don't touch them with a bargepole but I am open minded so if anyone has had any positive dealings I would be happy to hear them.

Thank god I go back to work tomorrow

Cheers

Good thinking. You will probably end up disappointed and frustrated.

Their figures are pretty obviously made up based on an optimistic view of previous successful claims. If you have never taken payment protection then what would they be claiming back?

But they don't really care - they'll be getting £350 either way.

It sounds like they're trying to sell you a service without having established whether it's relevant to you, which is precisely how misselling of payment protection came about. Oh the irony.

Haha, thanks for the advice.

I am as skeptical as anyone which is why I wanted to know if anyone has had any positive experiences with such companies. I doubt they have, just interested.

If you give me £300 I reckon I could try and claim back £13,000 for you

p.s. sounds a bit like the 'give us £79.99 and we'll sell your bike for you, then when it sells we'll give you a £70 refund"

If they are confident of getting your money back why don't they just deduct it from the total they get back?
Absolute Bolox mate, stay well clear, you didn't have PPI so there's nothing to claim back.

Give us £350 and you can be assured never to hear from us again!

ITs like the calls I get....starting every day from around this time

''This is a public announcement message...have you had a claim.....Do you have a loan, mortgage or credit card.....this isn't a sales call....

GAH the list is endless, all wanting your money with not an ounce of you getting owt in return.

We get those "This is an important message..." calls at work most days. I just hang up now. I'm about to start doing the same to the "I'm calling on behalf of BT..." calls as well.
