Default ODO confused

I was reading that thread by Red herring about the MPG on an SV.

Most guys seem to get 120 - 150 miles from a tank before the light comes on

On my 2003 (carb curvy) I can get 225 on the trip meter before the light starts blinking.

Is this right? Seems a bit unreal. So I thought maybe the ODO/Trip is in KM which would be about right 225km ~ 140miles.

BUT My bike is a UK import and the Miles is the big number on the needle. So was there a way on the curvy to change the ODO/Trip from Miles to KM? Or could my bike be a french/euro mainland import?

I don't think there is a way to change the trip from miles to km. It's possible to change the speedo face though.

Why not google map a route and then go ride the route, 100 miles makes the maths easy though you shouldn't need to measure many to show a 1.6x difference.

There isn't setting.

That sounds like a faulty board on the ODO, or as YC's hinting at the faces have been changed.

Quickest way to check if its a UK bike and not a Parrel is on Suzuki's website

http://www.suzuki-gb.co.uk/extra/onroad/000081/

Is is a naked or a faired bike, as I think most the euro bikes run with the left main lamp on (at dipped/ centre light on Faired only). May be talking s*** but one country does have that set up

Well i do know the speedo over- reads by about 5mph

I'll try the vin number on the site and see what it says. It's a faired bike and both lights run on it.

I suppose it depends how you ride it but I regularly see 180 miles before the light starts flashing and I'm not that gentle on the throttle.

On the brightside, if the clock face has been changed then your mileage (in miles) is less than two thirds of what you thought it was!

I bought a refurbed and recalibrated instrument cluster for my 02 650s (correct mileage) on the clock from this guy:

www.howmanymile.co.uk

He could probably turn your Odi into miles or tell you what the problem is.

Second this.
The guy is spot on. I do have a spare UK ODO kicking round circa 12k on it. £50 posted if you want to do a straight swap then look at them later.

The is normally a sticker on the top edge of the clocks the UK ones are 34119-20F21 (mph) To my knowledge there will be different part no for germany etc..
