Default Tax Disc thieves

Grr, went to Aberystwyth with the Telford rat pack sunday, went via Crossgates, Devils Bridge, Aber, back through Machynlleth, over the mountains to Newtown and Churchstoke, stunning roads and views. looked at the bike yesterday and noticed that the Tax disc holder was bent, it's mounted on the front forks, Tax disc still inside but the plastic is cracked and there is a small scratch on the mudguard. It looks like they tried to twist and break it off the mounting, perhaps the alarm went off and disturbud them, only place I can think it happened was either the seafront bike park at Aber or the car park at Tuffins at churchstoke, but that was really quiet so my bet is Aber. At least they didn't get it but I now need a new holder. Bast***ds.

Personally I don't understand why they steal tax discs anymore cos with them being electronic on the system, it will never pass anpr or anything as it will still show the vehicle it's on to be untaxed.

People who ride or drive round illegally dont register their vehicles most of the time so wouldn't care about a stolen tax disc anyway.

I don't display mine for this reason, I keep it in my back seat in case I have to show it. I wouldn't advise this mind, I guess I'm just fortunate not to have been caught.

Alot of people how do hold theirs in a sealed pack on their left wrists for this reason.

I'd love to see them try and break into mine
Nylock nuts and bathroom sealant (that should be fun in April)

I went for four months not showing mine - Its only the traffice wardens that will really do you for it up here. It was the constant explaining that i was taxed to the oiks in the street that would point it out to me in traffice queues that made me change it.

Did shop my dad's neighbour's son in for it though. His abandoned peugoet parked about 2 ft fromt the kerb meant the wast vehicle couldn't get down amd it was leaking oil ( not good on the bike) so my dad had a word, got it moved nearer the kerb and that was it. 3 weeks later a black and whit photocopy of his brothers tax disc went in. I phoned it in and he got done £500 fine. and he went on to become a copper - traffic section!

In Aberystwyth, aaah that's a shame. More of a shame the to$$pots have nicked it of course though. I wouldn't have thought it would be a clever idea to try nick something on the sea front, there's usually plenty of people walking about but then I suppose the worse thing about a bike is that to the outsider it's not obvious someone is meddling unlike with a car where there'd probably be a crowbar involved (or a credit card in some older cases )

Thats me you've seen then!!

Its the right actually

The only reason I started carrying my disc on my arm, is because I have a clear pocket on the arm of my Halvarrssons jacket, and when I got my VRap, it did have a holder in the dealers showroom, but they stole it when they went to MOT it!!!!! I have pictures showing clearly a tax disc holder on the bike when I purchased it, but when it was collected, it had magically disappeared!!! So there was nowhere to display it, and I decided the best place to have one, was on me, in clear view, can't really argue there can you

Suzy has a barsteward of a disc holder, in a discreet place, and shows a disc in there, although for a while until I could be bothered to attack said holder, the disc was in the arm pocket, but it got annoying as I had to remember which bikes disc was there at any given time.

Happened to me in 2008. I haven't displayed a tax disc on my bike since then. The feds know whether you are taxed or not. I've been spoken to a couple of times about it but it's gone no further.

happened to my dad on the gs1200 only realised when we went to put a new tax disc on it, thought they were trying to steal the top box, but it turns out thieves dont seem to carry torques heads with them.
also found mine bent and missing a few bolts after leaving it in town overnight...lives under the seat now and never had a problem.
