This problem started a wee while back and I never got around to looking at it, used to be the bike wuda misfired if I hit a large bump when under load, also battery is only about a year old but only seems to last 4 days if I don't use the bike then i have to bump start it.
Problem became serious today tho Bike wouldn't start (I expected this so bump started it) Bike was misfiring and backfiring loudly but I rode on after a few miles it was trying to cut out when I closed throttle and sometimes it cut out even under throttle, by the time I got to my destination, a further mile or two it had stopped completely twice and had to be started with starter motor, Now it progressed When It stopped the starter wouldn't turn over but I left it a few secs and it did and started, Second time it stopped starter button did not work and I pushed it the rest of the way, when I got there the starter worked again. I left it to sit for an hour n cool off and tried again and it started fine and within 30 seconds it was misfiring and then off and would not start, starter only turned intermittently as tho a bad connection on starter button. I'm not green at this sort of thing and im well used to strippin the sv, sadly I'm not home and have limited tools as it's living in my girlfriends garden at the min, im checkin connections to coils etc but I am expecting to find a fried wire in the ignition loop or feedback to the cdi box as I find it unlikely the starter and the coil went together and if there's a bad wire earth leak it would explain my discharging battery also! Anyone had anything like this before? Bike has history of bad alternator/regrec/overcharging issues She's a k1650s curvy |

This sounds a bit like the problem that was on here recently - non starting, pops and bangs. Turns out it was the electrical connector between loom and clocks was corroded and shorting out. Have search and read just in case.
